Fifty point question for the mid-term. (In class, blue
book, on Thursday before break)
"In the time you have remaining, do your best to give a thoughtful assessment of the debate between "Easterners" and "Westerners" during the First World War. You may define these terms as inclusively as you wish, but make sure that you address the debate in more narrow terms, as well.
What are the origins of the debate, how did the debate
differ between warring nations, what were the arguments in the various nations
for their point of view? Finally, what were some of the outcomes, up to the
end of 1917, of some of these policies?"
You may study together or apart, in any way you
wish. The restriction is that you must not bring notes of any kind into the
examination. Good luck!
