The first of the six reunions to date took place in June 1989. Subsequent gatherings occurred in 1992, 1995, 1996, 1998 and 2000. Each was organized within the framework of the College's annual springtime Alumni Reunion Weekend.

Most of the participants in the first three reunions were members of the Men's Glee Club at Dickinson between 1952 and 1970. However, a few were graduates representing classes from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s who sang with all male vocal groups that functioned on the campus during those decades.

In 1996 a male vocal ensemble called the Octals was organized at Dickinson. Some of its members began to participate in the reunions beginning in June of that year. More recently, Men's Glee Club/Octals Reunion participants have included some tenors and basses who sang with other campus groups while they were undergraduates at Dickinson.
