My primary scholarly and teaching interest is in lyrical writing and its relationship to visual imaging. My teaching includes courses in seventeenth-century English poets: John Donne, George Herbert, William Shakespeare, and John Milton. I also teach a poetry workshop and a course in lyric poetry. My book on Eudora Welty's short fiction concentrates upon her lyricism and interest in photography; I also maintain the Eudora Welty web page for the University of Mississippi Southern Writers site and offer a course in Southern Women Writers. Currently I'm writing about John Donne and books, and Thomas Traherne and the court masque, both leading to book on subjectivity in 17th-century lyric poetry. For information on class syllabi, my spaniel, Sadie. and so on, go to my personal web page. |
