I received my BS in Chemistry from Allegheny College in 1980, and my Ph.D. from Colorado State University (under the guidance of Lou Hegedus) in 1985. From 1985 - 1987, I worked as a post-doctoral associate at Case-Western Reserve University with A. J. Pearson. In 1987, I moved to Earlham College for a two-year appointment as a visiting assistant professor of chemistry, then came to Dickinson College in 1989. I have been here since then, with a one-year stay with John Gladysz at the University of Utah during the 1993 - 94 year.
Since 1989, 18 journal articles resulting from work in my labs have been published or accepted for publication. Eleven of those publications have student co-authors (a total of 22 student co-authors). A total of 44 students have worked with me in the laboratory, either during the summer or the academic year. Six of those students have gone to medical school, one to dental school and 21 have gone on to graduate studies in chemistry or a related field.
