Bound book 1 dated 1872- 1873 contains copies of personal and business correspondence. The book also contains notes on Binacular Vision and a copy of what is called "Stereograph Book" accompanied by notes on stereographic views.
Bound book 2 dated 1873- 1874 contains business correspondence with index at the front.
Bound book 3 dated 1875 - 1877 contains business correspondence with index at front.
Bound book 4 dated 1881 - 1883 contains business notes and correspondence.
This box contains Three bound books containing onion skin copies
of
letters that CFH wrote to various work related recipients.
Some of
these documents include letters he wrote as a trustee, as a professor,
and also as a son (only one). In the preceding pages of each
volume,
there is an index of names and corresponding page numbers.
However,
this system that Himes established fell short because he did not
anticipate the vast number of correspondence he would write.

Item
1: Bound copies of personal letters dated October 24, 1896 to May
23, 1900, with index by recipient at the beginning.
Note, pages 1-7 and 16-18 are missing.

2: Bound copies of business letters dated August 28, 1896 to November
12, 1901. Some loose notices from the US government and an envelope
addressed to Himes are included. Again an index precedes the
letters.
Item 3: Bound copies of business letters authored on the business of family members dated April 1896 to June 1, 1898, with an index at the beginning.
- 3 bound books of letters on “onion skin” some handwritten
others type written, the ink of some letters is smeared or washed out making
them illegible
- each book of correspondence has front index of names
of addressees

(Box six consists of three volumes of correspondence.
The first book contains onion skin letters, only some of which are legible.
Books two and three are Himes correspondence as secretary and treasurer
of the Board of Trustees.)

10. *The remainder of the letter book are letters from Himes to
various people and organizations. These letters are both personal
and professional in nature. A great deal of the writing has faded
rendering most illegible.
Books Two and Three:
- These are the collections of Himes correspondence
as Secretary and Treasurer of the Dickinson College Board of Trustees.
Book Two (vol. 1) dates from Dec. 4, 1869 to May 27, 1879.
Book Three (vol. 2) dates from May 5, 1885 to May 26, 1887.
This collection of bound letter books presented on onion skin paper contained three volumes, all of which dated from 1888-1889. The letter books contained correspondence of Himes as acting president of Dickinson College and Secretary of the Board of Trustees.
The first ,Volume 3, entitled #######, contained many letters by Himes as acting president of the College. Himes' letters speak about various financial issues of the College including scholarhips to certain students and other general financial records. In addition to this Himes writes about aspects of Dickinson College's cirriculum.
The second,Volume 4, entitled #######, also contained many letters from Himes as acting president. Aside from the general financial matters of the College, there were also a number of personal financial records with regard to Himes' photographic supplies. In addition to this there are several letters from Himes as professor of physics.
The third, Volume 5,
entitled ###### , also contained various financial records of the College
during Himes' time as acting president. In addition to this there
were a number of letters from Himes as professor of Physics, most of these
letters revolved aroung photography and photographic supplies.

William Blair, Mary Murray, and JA Murray, among others. Seems to
be a type of geneology of various Carlisle families including the Blairs,
Dennys, Murrays, and Parkers.
Folder One (1890, CFH, Europe)
This folder contains information regarding the
Himes family trip to Europe in the summer of 1890. Amoung other things,
it contains a passenger list for the Red Star Line steamer from New York
to Antwerp on July 9, 1890 listing the entire Himes family as passengers.
A passenger list for the return trip on September 20, 1890 also contains
the names of the Himes family.
Various menu's and prices, etc. for the Red Star Line are also included,
as well as a booklet describing the Belgian Mail Route for July 1890.
Tickets for various cities, for transportation, admission to events, etc.
were also found in this folder in a smaller envelope, as were a collection
of foreign stamps from envelopes that Himes had probably recieved.

Contains a single marriage announcement of Jacob
Tome to Evelyn Nesbitt. Seemingly has nothing to do with Himes, is

G-4 -- Inside this box entitled "Photo
Engraving Process Himes School Photo" was a photographic transfer made
by Charles Francis Himes. It was piece of glass (about 8 inches
by 6 inches) with a plaster engrave of a man on the
front of the piece of glass. On the back of the piece of glass
it said "Ives process plaster cast from photo relief."
G-5 -- Album of photographs (black,
6x10 inches with gold trim). The photos inside the album were mostly
of
groups of men at Dickinson College. There were pictures of
these men standing outside of the TOME Scientific
Building, East College, Old West, playing football, a dorm room
and a picture of Charles Francis Himes at Mt.
Lake Park.
G-6 -- Journal by Charles Francis Himes
entitled "Observation of a Tot - Travel by Sea and Land." This was
basically a journal written by Charles Francis Himes from the perspective
of his daughter (Mary or Anna)
describing the Himes family vacation to Europe. It describes
every place which the Himes family visited from the
time they left New Oxford to the time they returned. Within
this journal there is 34 pages of text and numerous
other pages with pictures of family members and places which they
visiited on their European Vacation.
G-PAMS -- This box is mostly comprised
of Charles Francis Himes publications. There are also random cards,
pamphlets, railway cards and booklets within this box which were
