• GenJam: An Interactive Genetic Algorithm Jazz Improviser - An article describing GenJam in laymen's terms from the 134th meeting of the Acoustical Society of America.

• Miles Davis, version 2.1 - An article about GenJam that appeared in the Economist in December 1997.

• Evolutionary Music - A Wikipedia page on the larger topic of evolutionary music which mentions GenJam. This is a good jumping off point for exploring the topic and points to some other evolutionary music projects for comparison.

An Introduction to Evolutionary Computation - a short paper that covers the basics of Genetic Algorithms, Genetic Programming, Evolution Strategies and Evolutionary Programming. This would be a good introduction if you haven't been exposed to these ideas before.
