Read Module 2 of the text, pp. 22 - 50, and answer the following questions.



Exercise 1:     Explain the difference between data and information.


Exercise 2:     List at least four ways in which the word processor has transcended the model of a typewriter.


Exercise 3:     What does the acronym WYSIWYG stand for?


Exercise 4:     Explain the role of computers in medical CAT scans. Would this technique be possible without computers? Would it be feasible?


Exercise 5:     Give an example of an area in which the introduction of computers has led to significant increases in productivity, and another in which significant gains in productivity have yet to be felt. Be sure to justify your answers.


Exercise 6:     List any topics in the reading that you found especially interesting or thought-provoking.


Exercise 7:     List any topics in the reading that you found confusing.
