RADIO CONTROL MODEL AIRPLANES

My interest in flying model airplanes began when I was 12 years old in the 1950's when I began building and flying control line model planes.  These were not radio controlled and you flew attached to control lines around a circle.  As an adult I continued on and off, mostly off, building and flying these kinds of models.  Three years ago I decided to try my hand at building and flying radio control models which is both much more difficult and expensive due to the radio gear.   I researched and talked around, and discovered that there was a local flying club, Carlisle Aeromodellers, and that these models fly just like real full size airplanes.  I also learned that you needed an instructor to teach you how to fly, so I asked around and found an excellent instructor whose name was Bill Bush.  My first plane was trainer, a Sig Lt 40 kit that I built.  It was powered by a 2 cycle OS .46FX engine.

Learning to fly RC model airplanes is much more challenging than control line flying and it took me many hours of instruction before I was proficient enough to solo.  I have been flying on my own now for a little more than a year and I enjoy it very much.  Here are two more that I built:

  Sig Mid-Star 40/OS 46fx (Sold)     Bridi Killer Kaos/Moki 61LS (Crashed)

Here are a couple of used planes I purchased:

Sig 4 Star 60/ASP 75(Sold)    Sig LT 25/OS 25fxd (Sold)

The latest addition to my hanger an Dave Patrick Ultimate Bipe powered by a YS120FZ 4 Stroke engine.  This is one fine flying plane!
