Introduction
The Dickinson College Astronomy Club was founded by Kelly
McFarland '98 and Emily Zamkoff '97 on February 5, 1997. Since
its founding the Astronomy Club's main goal has been to teach people of
the wonders of space and science. The club is strongly commited to the
Dickinson and Carlisle communities.
The Astronomy Club uses a variety of techniques to teach others
about the universe around us. Throughout the school year the club puts
on a number of open houses and planetarium shows. They also participate
in many volunteer activities further promoting astronomy related topics.
The club also goes on various trips including
hikes followed by star gazing. The members also may visit various museums
as a trip. Not only do they go on trips but they also enjoy various events
such as Messier Marathons and Pi Day (3/14).
